The Boston surface designer Marilyn MacLeod told me once that "creativity is like exploration." She further explained that it's diversions that often lead to the most exciting discoveries.Looking at this hand-done ostrich finish (and the beautiful sconce), I'd say this was quite the exploration - hopefully between the homeowner, interior designer and Marilyn. A worthwhile diversion for any design team.

Yes, it was definitely a collaboration between the homeowner, interior designer Teresa Burnett and me. I showed them a sample of a glazed metallic ostrich skin finish I had done at my studio that looks very different. I should post a picture for comparison.
Teresa responded to it right away and after discussing the different ways the finish could be done with the homeowner, we created the it with ultimately very different products, including a rich brown metallic plaster that is shown here.
